How to Access Services as a Salutem Member – In and Outside Zimbabwe

At Salutem International Medical Fund, we’ve designed a healthcare system that puts power in your hands, giving you access to care anytime, anywhere. Here’s how you can enjoy your benefits both locally and internationally as an Afripolitan member.

🌍 Accessing Services in Zimbabwe

  1. Find a Provider

    • Download the Salutem App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

    • Go to Utilities → Service Provider Location to see all providers in the Salutem CareNet.

    • Alternatively, request a provider list via our helpline, email, or WhatsApp chatbot.

  2. At the Provider

    • Simply present yourself at a registered provider, show your identification, and you will receive care.

    • Salutem instantly settles the claim directly with the provider — no delays, no hassle.

  3. Outside the Network (Real-Time Claims)

    • If your provider is not in the Salutem CareNet, you can still access services.

    • With help from your provider, log into the claims section of the app (or via WhatsApp/USSD *501#).

    • Provide the provider’s AHFoZ number and tariff details, then push the claim.

    • Funds are instantly disbursed to your Salutem ZimSwitch/Visa-enabled card for you to pay the provider directly.

  4. Acquittal Process (Mandatory)

    • Within 3 hours after service, members must acquit their claim by submitting:

      • An ICD10 code for the diagnosis.

      • A completed AHFoZ claim form, signed by the treating doctor or pharmacist.

    • Failure to acquit may result in suspension of future claims or potential fraud investigations.

✈️ Accessing Services Outside Zimbabwe

  1. Planned Treatment (Pre-Authorisation)

    • For operations or major treatments abroad, pre-authorisation is required.

    • Once approved, funds are loaded onto your Salutem Visa card, which you use to pay at the provider.

    • After treatment, return receipts and claim documents for acquittal.

  2. Unplanned/Travel Emergencies

    • Your Salutem card also works as a travel insurance card.

    • If you fall sick while abroad, contact our 24/7 telesales team immediately.

    • We will liaise with the provider, confirm costs, and pay directly.

    • Note: We only cover up to the highest tariff applicable in Zimbabwe (e.g., if the local cap is $100 but the foreign consultation is $150, the member covers the $50 shortfall).

🔑 Key Takeaways

  • In Zimbabwe: Use the app, WhatsApp, or USSD *501# to find providers and process real-time claims.

  • Outside Zimbabwe: Pre-authorise major care or use your Visa-enabled Salutem card for emergencies.

  • Acquittal is critical: Always submit ICD10 codes and claim forms to keep your account active.

With Salutem Afripolitan, you’re never far from care. Whether you’re at home or abroad, our system ensures you get the treatment you need, when you need it — fast, transparent, and reliable.
